HACKENSACK, N.J. – Several members of the Drew University men's track & field team participated in the squad's first indoor meet of the season on Wednesday at the Knights Midweek Clash, hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University at the Bogota Savings Bank Center.
The meet consisted of a mix of Division I (FDU, St. Peters), Division II (Felician), and Division III schools (Drew, FDU-Florham).
Junior
Zach Mogambi posted Drew's top individual finish, placing fifth among 13 competitors in the shot put with a heave of 12.62 meters (41-4 3/4). In the same event, junior
Aidan Riccardo placed ninth with a toss of 10.79 meters (35-4 3/4).
In the 1,000-meter run, freshman
Patrick Robinson placed fifth out of seven runners in 3:16.51 while Riccardo took sixth in 3:20.26. Sophomore
Owen Browne added a seventh-place showing in the long jump, leaping 5.96 meters (19-6 3/4), while Riccardo was 10th with a mark of 5.17 meters (16-11 1/2).
Drew also had two entries in the distance medley relay. The "A" team of sophomore
Matt Ellis, freshman
Nathanrood Charles, senior
Dylan Crain, and junior
Tommy Edwards came in fifth with a time of 11:13.78 while a "B" squad of freshmen
Chris Tocci,
Luke Krafton,
Erick Hernandez, and
Matt Vargas was sixth in 12:19.96.
The Rangers are back in action on Saturday, when they compete at the TCNJ Indoor Opener, held at the Armory in New York City.
