The Drew University women's track & field team will take to the oval with plenty of returning talent for its third year as a varsity program in 2025-26.
Under Head Coach
Sean Robinson, the Rangers bring back 15 athletes from last season's team, including several who made an impact at the conference, regional, and national level.
Headlining Drew's list of returners is junior jumper/sprinter
Sage Hendershot, the first All-American in Ranger track & field history. She capped an incredible sophomore campaign with an eighth-place finish in the long jump at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships, which landed her First Team All-America honors. She also placed 16th in the same event at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship to capture Honorable Mention All-America status.
Hendershot swept the Landmark Conference indoor and outdoor titles in the long jump to earn First Team All-Landmark Conference honors, and she also garnered second-team all-conference recognition by virtue of placing second in both the 60-meter dash (indoors) and the 100-meter dash (outdoors) at the Landmark Championships. In addition, she was named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-Metro Region Team in two events both indoors (long jump, 60-meter dash) and outdoors (long jump, 100-meter dash).
Senior
Emily Camlet is also coming off an outstanding season as a long sprinter/middle distance runner for the Rangers. Last season, she swept the 400-meter dash titles at the Landmark Conference Indoor and Outdoor Championships to gain first-team all-conference honors, and she also captured USFTCCCA All-Region recognition both indoors and outdoors in the same event. She joined Hendershot as the first national qualifiers in program history when she competed in the 400 at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships last winter, finishing 20th. Camlet also scored for the Rangers in the 200-meter dash at the Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships, placing fifth.
Sophomore
Lauryn Brown also returns as a conference champion after capturing the Landmark title in the triple jump at the outdoor conference meet, gaining first-team all-conference honors in the process. She also landed a spot on the USTFCCCA All-Region Team in the triple jump during the outdoor season. Brown also scored for the Rangers in the long jump at the Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships with a seventh-place showing. She will also provide the squad with depth in the sprints.
Sophomore middle-distance specialist
April Kusnier is also back after scoring for Drew at the Landmark Conference Indoor Championships, placing sixth in the mile. She also came in 10th in the 1500-meter run at the outdoor conference meet.
Drew will also benefit from a number of carry-overs from a strong cross country squad that finished 10th at the NCAA Division III Metro Region Championships. Including Camlet and Kusnier, a total of 11 Rangers dotting the roster also competed in XC this past fall.
Junior
Skyler McGuire and senior
Kate Rice are coming off cross country seasons in which both harriers earned All-Landmark Conference Honorable Mention status for their performances at the conference meet. Rice was also an All-Region performer in track & field in the outdoor 5,000-meter run two years ago.
Other middle or long-distance runners looking to make their mark this season will be senior
Annelise Wade; juniors
Sarah Hattan and
Sophia Kim, and sophomores
Isabella Fortunato,
Bella Polizzi,
Perri Rubin, and
Deborah Wang.
The Rangers will also boast depth in the throws, where six athletes will compete for the Blue and Green this season. Senior
Lauren Rizzolo, the school record-holder in every throwing event indoor and outdoors, returns to lead the squad after placing ninth in the javelin at last year's Landmark Conference Championships. She will be joined by seniors
Michaela Fajardo and
Dejanayha Hill and freshmen
Lailah Haruna,
Zyen Haynesworth, and
Sam Martinez.
Joining Camlet and Brown will be senior
Matasia Christopher, one of the team's top sprinters a year ago, and freshman
Laiana Anderson.
The Rangers open their season on Wednesday at the Knights Midweek Clash, hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University at the Bogota Bank Savings Center in Hackettstown, N.J. Drew will compete in nine additional indoor meets before competing at the Landmark Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 28.
