MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's swimming & diving team kicked off the 2025 Ranger Invitational in impressive fashion on Friday at F.M. Kirby Pool.
The Rangers won all nine swimming events while breaking three school records, two Landmark Conference records, and four meet records.
In the team standings, Drew has racked up 217 points and leads the College of Staten Island (95.5), Moravian University (43), and FDU-Florham (25.5).

Nicholas Heinio-Widell, and sophomore
Thiago Silva teamed up for a 1:30.09 clocking in a time trial, lowering their own school and Landmark Conference record of 1:30.90 set last winter at the Landmark Conference Championships while bettering the meet record of 1:31.15 set one year ago. The foursome won the event with a time of 1:30.80.
The same four Rangers teamed up in the 400-medley with a time of 3:20.82, taking over a second off the previous Landmark Conference record that had stood for 10 years. The time also improved Drew's school and meet records in the event by over a second as well.
Heinio-Widell also swam on the winning 200-freestyle relay team that also included Burkett, Silva, and junior
Kyle Talerico and finished with a time of 1:22.99.
Individually, Heinio-Widell won two events while dropping his own school and meet records in the 50-freestyle with a time of 20.41. He also won the 100-butterfly in 48.97.
Sophomore
Hunor Harsanyi also came away with a record on Friday, breaking the oldest meet record on the books with a time of 1:55.50 in the 200-IM, topping an 11-year-old standard by 0.60 seconds.
Junior
Liam Gregory was also a double-winner, capturing both the 500-freestyle (4:42.57) and 200-freestyle (1:46.09). In addition, freshman
Marcell Hudak touched first in the 400-IM with a time of 4:08.31.
Also finishing as runner-ups were Talerico in both the 200-IM (1:58.93), and the 100-butterfly (50.78), Hudak in the 500 (4:47.60), Burkett in the 50 (20.69), and sophomore
Issac Jeffers in the 200-freestyle 1:47.60.
The second and final day of the invitational will be held on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
