MADISON, N.J. – Junior
Will Morton posted his 100th career victory as the Drew University men's fencing team took on a pair of teams at a Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association (MACFA) "A" round robin event on Saturday in the Simon Forum.
The Rangers faced Cornell University and Lafayette College and came up on the short end of a 16-11 decision to both teams.
Morton helped lead the epee squad to a strong performance, as it defeated Cornell 7-2 and Lafayette 8-1 while finishing 15-3 individually. Freshman
Lupo Sala finished 6-0 while Morton also was perfect on the day, going 5-0. Senior
Danny Stevens added a 4-2 finish.
In foil, freshman
Andrew Klyczek led the way, finishing 4-2, while classmate
Paul Greenleaf went 2-1. Junior
Max Gayevsky picked up one win for the sabre team.
The Rangers return to action on Sunday, March 2, when they host the MACFA Championships.
