MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's and women's fencing teams celebrated Senior Day in style, sweeping Haverford College in a rare dual meet Saturday afternoon in the Simon Forum.

The women's team won 20-7 while the men's squad captured a 15-12 decision.

Drew's 12 seniors were honored in a ceremony prior to the start of the match.

The women's squad (18-15) won all three weapons, highlighted by an 8-1 showing from epee, with junior
Izzy Anderson and senior
Brenna Behensky each posting a 3-0 mark.

The foil and sabre squads also enjoyed impressive performances, with each going 6-3. In foil, freshman
Tala Varoqua finished 3-0 while junior
Bella Hatzoglu went 2-1.

Sophie Gajowskyj paced the sabre unit with a perfect 3-0 performance.

On the men's side, the Rangers (15-19) avenged three losses to the Fords earlier this season, including a three-point Haverford win this past Sunday at Johns Hopkins. Drew was carried by the sabre team, which cruised to an 8-1 showing. Freshman

Haverford edged the Rangers 5-4 in epee despite a 2-1 contribution from senior
Zack Zukofsky. The Fords captured the foil competition 6-3, although junior
Henri Degremont turned in a 2-1 night.

Drew's women's team returns to action on Sunday, when it travels to the FDU Invitational. The Ranger men are back in the Simon Forum next Saturday for a MACFA round robin.
