MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Drew University men's track & field team opened the outdoor portion of its schedule on Friday and Saturday at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge.
Ten Rangers took on a competitive field that consisted primarily of Division I and Division III schools.
Sophomore
Zach Mogambi turned in the highest finish for the Rangers. He placed seventh in a field of 62 in the discus with a throw of 45.68 meters (149-10). Mogambi was also 27th in the shot put (12.24m, 40-2) and 31st in the hammer (38.43m, 126-1).
Also in the throws, sophomore
Carl Adolphe finished 36th in the hammer with a toss of 37.22 meters (122-1).
On the track, sophomore
Thomas Edwards registered a strong performance in the 5,000-meter run. He placed 20th in a field of 58 and lowered his own school record by nine seconds with a time of 15:55.82.
Freshman
Matt Ellis also raced in the 5K and took 31st in 16:38.48.
The Rangers are back in action on March 28-29 at the Ramapo Invitational.
