USFCA All-Region Teams
MADISON, N.J. - For the second time in her career, senior
Amira Mutakabbir has earned all-region honors from the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA).
Â
Mutakabbir captured a pair of selective awards. She was one of just 15 epeeists - and the lone Division III selection - to be named to the USFCA All-Region Team for all NCAA divisions, capturing honorable mention status. In addition, she was one of our only four epeeists selected to the USFCA Division III All-Region Team.
Â
Mutakabbir earned the same two awards as a sophomore in 2023.
Â
For the season, Mutakabbir finished with a record of 61-31. Earlier this month, Mutakabbir registered the top finish of her career at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Region Championships, where she advanced to the third round before placing 15th overall.
Â
The performance capped an outstanding championship season for Mutakabbir, who also tied for third at the National Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association (NIWFA) Championship, earning First-Team All-NIWFA honors. Her efforts helped the Rangers place fourth out of 15 teams and helped Drew capture the third-place medal in epee.
Â
Mutakabbir also posted numerous additional outstanding performances throughout the season, including going 11-1 at the Johns Hopkins Invitational, 11-4 at the Vassar Invitational, 13-5 at the Drew Invitational, and 10-2 at the LIU Invitational.
Â
For the season, the Rangers posted a dual-match record of 24-18.
