WINCHESTER, Va. – The Drew University men's track & field team closed out its indoor season on Friday and Saturday at the NCAA South Region Final Qualifier, hosted by Shenandoah University.
In the team standings, the Rangers placed fourth among 18 teams who scored at least one point.
Freshman
Owen Browne turned in the team's top finish on the day, placing third among five competitors in the pole vault with a mark of 4.31 meters (14-1 1/2).
Sophomore
Thomas Edwards placed fourth in a field of nine in the mile with a time of 4:32.06. He nearly took down the school record in the event, as the current Drew standard is 4:31.58, set by senior
Toby Gaynor during the team's inaugural season last year.
Freshman
Matt Ellis finished close behind Edwards in the mile, taking fifth in 4:36.64.
Sophomore
Zach Mogambi placed fifth in a field of eight in the weight throw with a heave of 13.61 meters (44-7 3/4), and he was also 10th in the shot put with a mark of 12.20 meters (40- 1/4).
Also competing were sophomore
Ethan O'Bryan, who took fourth in the high jump (1.74 meters, 5-8 1/2), and sophomore
Carl Adolphe, who was eighth in the weight throw (12.06 meters, 39-6 3/4).
The Rangers open their outdoor season on Friday and Saturday, March 14-15, with the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge.
