Mogambi Sets Landmark Conference Record in the Discus

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore Zach Mogambi broke the Landmark Conference record in the discus, winning the event at the Coach Pollard Invitational, hosted by Moravian University, on Friday.
 
Mogambi's throw of 47.01 meters (154-2) surpassed the former conference record of 46.65 meters set by Moravian's Tim King last season. Competing in a field of 22, he posted a throw that would rank him 45th on the current NCAA Division III performance list entering the day.
 
Mogambi turned in an outstanding day, as he also improved upon his own school records in both the shot put and hammer. In the shot put, he placed fifth among 24 competitors with a throw of 14.23 meters (46-8), and he took seventh in a field of 20 in the hammer with a heave of 42.60 meters (139-9).
 
Drew added a 9-10-11 finish in the 5,000-meter run, led by sophomore Thomas Edwards, who took ninth in the field of 19 with a time of 16 minutes, 31.55 seconds. Freshman Matt Ellis placed 10th in 16:46.97 while junior Dylan Crain was 11th in 16:49.81.
 
Sophomore Jeff Ayeh-Datey contributed an 11th-place showing among 42 competitors in the 200-meter dash, clocking a time of 22.73 seconds. He also came in 14th in a field of 58 in the 100. In addition, sophomore Adian Hanson took 15th in the 200 (22.95) while placing 19th in the 100 (11.21).
 
The Rangers continue their season April 28-29 at the Lehigh University Track & Field Classic.
