TOWSON, Md. – For the second week in a row and the third time this season, sophomore
Zach Mogambi of the Drew University men's track & field team has been selected as the Landmark Conference Field Athlete of the Week.
Mogambi won the discus with a tremendous throw of 50.26 meters (164-11) to lead the Rangers at Lehigh University's Carol and John Covert Classic on Saturday. Competing in a field heavy with Division I competition, he won the event by over seven feet over runner-up Liam Lovering of Lehigh. His throw was over three meters and more than 10 feet better than his previous school and Landmark Conference record set just eight days earlier at Moravian's Coach Pollard Invitational, and it places him 20th on the current Division III performance list. Mogambi also placed 10th among 34 competitors in the shot put with heave of 13.70 meters (44-11 1/2).
On the current Landmark Conference outdoor performance list, Mogambi ranks first in the discus, third in the shot put (14.23m), and fourth in the hammer (42.60m).
The Rangers compete at the Landmark Conference Championships on Saturday and Sunday at Susquehanna University.
