USILA Division III Team of the Week
MADISON, N.J. - For the third time this season, freshman faceoff specialist
Jake Rainero captured a spot on the USILA Division III Team of the Week.
Also the Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Week, Rainero closed out the regular season with a record-breaking day at the X in Drew's 23-11 victory at Juniata. He finished 31-for-35 while smashing the school record for ground balls in a game with 31 – 10 more than the former mark of 21 set by Craig Middleton versus King's College on April 4, 2005. That mark also tied the NCAA Division III record set by Shawn McDaniel of La Roche in 2018 and Eddie Symons of Albion in 2023.
Earlier this week, Rainero was named to the All-Landmark Conference First Team while also being selected as the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year. He won an incredible 74.8 (305-for-408) of his attempts while picking up 209 ground balls. In addition, he contributed 11 points on six goals and five assists. He currently leads Division III in faceoffs won and ranks third in faceoff winning percentage and ground balls per game (12.29). For the year, Rainero set Landmark Conference single-season records for both faceoffs won and ground balls.
Rainero helped the Rangers finish 10-7 and 6-3 in Landmark Conference play. The team earned the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament and hosted a postseason game for the first time in 13 years.
