Gallego, Zengerle Capture All-Landmark Conference Honors

All-Landmark Conference Men's Lacrosse Team

TOWSON, Md. – Sophomore midfielder Yaneik Gallego and freshman defenseman Josef Zengerle have earned a spot on the All-Landmark Conference Men's Lacrosse Team, conference officials announced on Wednesday.
 
Both players captured second-team status after helping to lead the Rangers to their third consecutive appearance in the Landmark Conference Championship tournament.
 
In his first season with the Rangers, Gallego played in all 16 games and finished second on the team in goals (26) and points (40) while tying for second in assists (14). He scored a season-high four goals and handed out one assist at Susquehanna, and he poured in a season-high seven points on three goals and four assists in a victory at Lycoming. In addition, he posted three goals and three assists in a win at Neumann, and he notched three goals and two assists in a victory over Wilkes.
 
Zengerle also played in all 16 games for the Rangers at defenseman and turned in a record-breaking season, setting the team record for caused turnovers with 35. He posted CT in all but two games for the season, including three in 10 different games and six victories. Among the Landmark Conference leaders, he ranks first in caused turnovers and second in CTs per game (2.19). In addition, he picked up 27 ground balls, including a season-high five in a victory over Juniata, and he scooped four GBs at Moravian. Zengerle also recorded his first career point with an assist in a victory at Neumann.
