The Drew University field hockey will look to ride the momentum of a breakthrough season as it embarks upon its 2025 campaign under fourth-year Head Coach Summer Kortmann.

One year ago, the Rangers posted a 10-9 overall record, marking the team's highest victory total and first winning season since 2013. In addition, the squad went 4-5 in Landmark Conference play to finish sixth in the conference standings, good for the program's first Landmark Conference playoff berth in 11 years.

This season, the Rangers bring back a number of their top performers from a year ago, including six starters and four players who registered multiple goals in 2024.

Leading the charge is junior midfielder Emma Rider, who scored three goals and distributed a team-leading seven assists last year. Rider also dished out seven assists and pumped in five goals during her freshman campaign in 2023, when she was named to the All-Landmark Conference Second Team.

Sophomore midfielder Ellie Kopec is also back after establishing herself as a playmaker during her rookie season, when she scored two goals and handed out six assists. Sophomore forward Emily Caporrino also returns after notching three goals and one assist last year.

Midfielder Emily Monaco will pose an additional offensive threat while also providing valuable leadership as the team's lone senior. Monaco netted three goals last season and has played in 48 games and made 35 starts throughout her career at The Forest.

Junior forward Chandler Straub is also back after posting one goal and three assists in 2024. In addition, junior forward Caroline Larsen returns after playing in 10 games and starting once last season.

Also looking to make an impact offensively will be freshman forwards Bella Fini, Elizabeth Harbeson, and Karine Johnson, and along with first-year midfielders Natalie D'Onofrio and Julia Stoff.

At the defensive end, the Rangers are equipped with their starting goalie from last season in junior Beth Kelly. Starting every game, she recorded a 2.58 goals-against average and .711 save percentage along with a pair of shutouts. Sophomore Dominique Flores also returns between the pipes after appearing in two games and playing 45 minutes last season.

Junior Liriana Seferovic is also back after starting every game a year ago. Other returners who compete for time on the back row will be junior Carolyn Brown, who played in 14 games as a reserve last season, and sophomore Samantha Izzo, who saw time in six contests.

Freshmen Mackenzie Cavalieri and Zyen Haynesworth will provide additional options at defender this season.

In the 2025 Landmark Conference Preseason Poll, the Rangers have been picked to finish fifth. The top six teams qualify for the Landmark Conference Championship tournament.

The Rangers open their season with three consecutive road games and play their season opener on Friday at 7 p.m. at King's College. Drew's home opener is set for Wednesday, Sept. 10 versus William Paterson University while its Landmark Conference opener is Saturday, Sept. 27 against Goucher College.
