HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Drew University women's fencing team rode strong performances from its foil and sabre teams to defeat host Haverford College 16-11 on Saturday.
The Rangers won 8-1 in foil and 6-3 in sabre while defeating Haverford for the second year in a standalone dual meet.
In foil, sophomores
Filiz Erdogan and
Tala Varoqua each finished 3-0 while senior
Bella Hatzoglu went 2-1.
The sabre team received a 2-1 showing from all three of its competitors – senior
Eva Esqueda and freshmen
Sabrina Holmes and
Ava Insinga.
Senior
Izzy Anderson paced Drew's epee team with a 2-1 mark.
The Rangers return to action on Sunday, Feb. 15, when they travel to Vassar College for the Eastern Women's Fencing Conference (EWFC) Championships.
