Men’s Track & Field Competes at East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Drew University men's indoor track & field team competed at the DeShriver Invitational, hosted by East Stroudsburg University, on Sunday.
 
The Rangers won a pair of events while taking on both Division II and Division III competition.
 
Drew opened the morning with a victory in the distance medley relay, as sophomore Matt Ellis, freshman Nathanrood Charles, senior Dylan Crain, and junior Tommy Edwards beat out three other teams with a time of 10:55.22. Later in the day, Ellis defeated two other competitors in the 3,000-meter run, breaking the tape in 9:20.87.
 
Crain and freshman Luke Krafton added one individual victory apiece for the Rangers. Crain prevailed among eight competitors in the 800-meter run, winning the four-lap event by seven and a half seconds in 2:08.96, while Krafton prevailed in an all-Drew field of four in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:58.76.

Juniors Jeff Ayeh-Datey and Zach Mogambi also turned in strong performances in the individual competition. Ayeh-Datey placed third and was the top collegiate finisher in a field 18 in the 200-meter dash, clocking a time 23.25 seconds while placing behind only a pair of unattached competitors. In addition, he came in fourth in a field of 21 in prelims of the 55-meter dash (6.67 seconds) to finish behind only a pair of Division II athletes and one unattached competitor. Meanwhile, Mogambi finished third in a field of 11 in the shot put (12.66 meters) and fourth out of 11 athletes in the weight throw (14.87 meters). He was the top Division III performer in both events.
 
Also finishing among the top half of their field were Krafton, who placed second among six competitors in the 600-meter dash (1:33.19), Charles, who came in third in the 800 (2:17.93), sophomore Eliot Vishnevsky, who was second in the 1,000 (2:58.77), and junior Aidan Riccardo, who came in fourth in a field of eight in prelims of the 55-meter hurdles while lowering his own school record in 8.53 seconds.
 
The Rangers continue their season on Friday, Feb. 20, at the Fastrack Last Chance Meet, held at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.
