MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Drew University men's track & field team opened the outdoor portion of its schedule on Friday with the first day of the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge, held at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
Among the team's top performers were juniors
Jeff Ayeh-Datey,
Zach Mogambi, and
Tommy Edwards. Ayeh-Datey came in 22nd place out of 84 competitors in the "collegiate" 100-meter dash while Mogambi added a 14th-place finish in a field of 40 in the hammer, tossing the ball and chain 41.87 meters (137-4). Edwards placed 14th among 36 competitors in the "collegiate" 5,000-meter run, clocking a time of 15:42.91 while senior
Dylan Crain placed 23rd in the same event in 16:30.40.
Sophomore
Owen Browne added 33rd-place out of 53 competitors in the long jump, soaring 5.77 meters (18-11 1/4), while freshman
Chris Tocci came in ninth out of 31 runners in the "open" 1500-meter run (4:29.67).
The second and final day of the meet takes place on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
