WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Junior
Zach Mogambi won the discus to lead the Drew University men's track & field team on the second and final day of the Bill Butler Invitational, hosted by West Chester University, on Saturday.

Facing Division II and III competition, Mogambi launched a season-best throw of 47.61 meters (156-2) to beat out 21 athletes in the event. His throw was over 20 feet father than his nearest competitor, and it ranks first in the Landmark Conference and 39th on the current Division III performance list.

Mogambi also placed third in a field of 24 in the shot put with a throw of 14.09 meters (46-2 3/4). He was the top Division III finisher in the event by nearly six feet.

Also placing third was sophomore
Owen Browne in the long jump. He cleared 6.28 meters (20-7 1/4), was the second collegiate finisher, and beat out 15 competitors in the event. In addition, Browne placed eighth in a field of 12 in the pole vault (3.81m/12-6).

Junior
Tommy Edwards also turned in a top-eight finish, placing seventh out of some 77 competitors in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:12.92. Also placing in the top half of the field in the 1500 were senior
Dylan Crain (26th, 4:24.84), freshman
Matt Vargas (32nd, 4:29.36), freshman
Chris Tocci (33rd, 4:29.40), and sophomore
Matt Ellis (35th, 4:30.58).

Ellis also placed 21st among 63 athletes in the 800-meter run (2:04.68) while Crain was 25th in the same event (2:06.26).

Freshman
Nathanrood Charles contributed an impressive showing in the 400-meter dash, placing 12th in a field of 40 with a time of 52.73. In the same event, sophomore
Olamilekan Olayiwola finished 14th in 53.13.

Olayiwola also placed 29th among 83 competitors in the 200 (23.50) while junior
Grailin Simmons took 39th (23.83).

The Rangers are back in action on Friday and Saturday at the Coach Pollard Invitational, hosted by Moravian University.
