Zach Mogambi and sophomore
Matt Ellis have been selected as the Landmark Conference Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week.
Mogambi, who won his fourth consecutive Landmark Conference Field Athlete of the Week award, posted a first, second, and third-place finish to help lead the Rangers to the team title at the Battle of Madison Avenue, hosted by FDU-Florham. He captured the discus with a throw of 46.46 meters (152-5) to beat out 15 other competitors and defeat his nearest collegiate competitor by over nine feet. He also placed second in the shot put with a season-best throw of 14.61 meters (47-11 1/4), finishing just a half inch behind the winner from Farmingdale State, and was third in the javelin with a toss of 41.68 meters (136-9).
For the season, Mogambi ranks second in the Landmark Conference and 48th in Division III in the discus (47.61m/156-2). He is also third among the conference leaders in the shot put (14.61 meters (47-11 1/4), and seventh in the Landmark in the hammer (41.87m/137-4).
Ellis won the 1500-meter run and took third in the 800-meter run for the Rangers at the Battle of Madison Avenue. He defeated 12 other competitors in the 1500 with a season-best time of 4:24.44, and he was third overall and first among Division III runners in the 800 (2:05.21), finishing behind only a pair of athletes from Division II Dominican.
For the season, Ellis has posted Drew's fastest 800 time (2:04.68) and is second among the Rangers in the 1500.
The Rangers continue their season on Friday and Saturday when they compete at the Covert Classic, hosted by Lehigh University.
