EWING, N.J. – The Drew University men's track & field tuned up for next week's Landmark Conference Championships on Friday at the Rick McCorkle Invitational, hosted by The College of New Jersey.
 
Sophomore Owen Browne posted the top finish on the day for the Rangers, placing fifth in a field of Division I, II, and III athletes 16 in the pole vault. He cleared a season-best 4.00 meters (13-1 1/2) while finishing third among Division III competitors.
 
Drew also received several top performances from its track athletes. Junior Tommy Edwards came in 11th among 53 competitors in the 1500-meter run with a season-best time of 4:11.02. He also came in 38th out of 72 runners in the 800, clocking an additional season-best of 2:04.64.
 
Sophomore Matt Ellis added a 34th-place finish in the 800, recorded a season-best of 2:03.55. Senior Dylan Crain added a 26th-place showing in the 1500 with a personal record of 4:17.65.
 
In the sprints, freshman Nathanrood Charles placed 30th among 57 athletes in the 200-meter dash in 23.47 seconds, and he also came in 24th in a field of 42 in the 400 with a time of 52.31 seconds.
 
The Rangers now compete at the Landmark Conference Championships, held May 2-3 at Juniata College.
