TOWSON, Md. – For the second week in a row, junior
Zach Mogambi of the Drew University men's track & field team has been selected as the Landmark Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week.
Mogambi won the discus for the second time in as many meets, capturing the event at the Ursinus College Springfest. Taking on a field of 40 Division II and III competitors, he posted a winning throw of 148 feet, 11 inches (45.41 meters) to finish over a foot better than the event runner-up. For the season, he ranks first on the Landmark Conference season performance list and 35th in Division III in the discus with a season-best mark of 153-8 (46.85m).
Mogambi also finished fourth in a field of 33 and was second among Division III athletes in the shot put with a launch of 46-11 3/4 (14.32m), improving upon his own school record by three inches. His throw in the shot put also placed him third on the Landmark Conference performance list for the season. In addition, he placed eighth in the hammer with a mark of 135-7 (39.81m).
The Rangers are back in action on Friday and Saturday at the Bill Butler Invitational, hosted by West Chester University.
