
Drew's women's fencing team won its sixth straight EWFC title with a 5-1 record at the championship meet held at Drew. After surviving a tough third round match with Haverford, the Rangers cruised to three more victories before losing to Johns Hopkins in the final round having already clinched. Hunter took second place with a 4-2 record and the tiebreaker over third place Haverford and fourth place Johns Hopkins, both of which finished at 4-2 as well.
The Rangers began the day with a 21-6 win over CCNY lead by a sweep by the saber team. Emma Nostrand, Alicia Rapp and Carlin MacNichol all won their three bouts. Amy Lester's 3-0 performance led the foilists to a 6-3 weapon win.
Things were much closer in a 15-12 win over Haverford, but the Rangers came out ahead of their long time rivals. Both the saber and foil teams won their weapons 6-3 with all six fencers going 2-1. The epee team lost 3-6, but got the three key bout wins as Allison Walters went 2-1.
The Rangers cruised past Yeshiva to improve to 3-0 on the day. Drew dropped just two bouts out of 27 in the win. A solid 20-7 win over Hunter followed as Naomi Bocarsly and Walter each posted their second straight 3-0 performances.
Heading into the final two matches, the Rangers were 4-0 with chief rivals Haverford at 4-1, Stevens at 3-2 and Johns Hopkins at 2-2. Drew's final two matches pitted them against the Ducks and Blue Jays.
Drew got a huge 17-10 win over Stevens to clinch its sixth straight EWFC Championship. The sabre squad again led the way with a near perfect 8-1 win led by 3-0's from both Rapp and Nostrand. Though epee lost 4-5 to make things interesting a 5-4 win in foil helped seal the clinching victory.
A final match against Johns Hopkins resulted in a loss, but not before the Rangers captured their sixth straight.
