Bucknam, Reading Lead Drew Over Moravian
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (April 7, 2010) -
Greg Reading (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley) and
Jon Bucknam (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) put together their finest performances of their 2010 senior campaigns to help the Rangers pull out a 12-7 Landmark Conference victory over the Greyhounds of Moravian.
Moravian (1-8, 0-2 Landmark) would not go down without a fight. The Greyhounds had the game tied twice in a six-goal first period. Reading would break the 2-2 tie with 6:02 remaining in the first and then would open up the second period unknotting a 3-3 tie 7:26 into the second period.
Drew (5-3, 2-0 Landmark) would close the door on Greyhounds in the fourth quarter. After going into halftime with just a one-goal advantage the Rangers would outscore the Greyhounds 6-2 in the second half including four unanswered goals end the game.
The Greyhounds could not find a answer for the veteran duo as Bucknam finished the game with three goals and three assists while Reading found the back of the net four times and dished out two assists.
The two Ranger goalkeepers,
Brad Mendelson (Owings Mills, Md./The Park School) and
Charles DeSocio (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia), faced 25 shots on goal and came up with a combined 18 saves. Mendelson picked up his fifth win of the year while DeSocio turned back his team-leading 76th shot of the season.
The Rangers will return home on Saturday to take on Landmark Conference foe, Cathlolic University. Game time is slated for 1:00 in Ranger Stadium.
