Sabre is Only Bright Spot at Philly Invite

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (January 21, 2011) – The Rangers struggled this afternoon in the City of Brotherly Love, losing all five bouts.. The Rangers were victims of Haverford, Northwestern, The University of North Carolina, Sacred Heart and ultimately, NJIT.

The Rangers who now fall to 3-8 on the season, could not carry their momentum built at the Haverford Invitational last semester where they came away with three victories. Their closest bout of the day came against NJIT, where they fell 17-10. Northwestern convincingly defeated the Rangers, 27-1, Haverford came away with a 24-3 victory, Sacred Heart won 25-2 and UNC emerged victorious, 23-4.

The Rangers only weapon victory of the afternoon came at sabre where they were able to defeat NJIT, 8-1. Junior Emilia Domanowski (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) had a team-high seven wins of the afternoon and improved her season record to 17 and 13.

Drew will be action for the second-straight weekend when they travel to Penn State on Saturday afternoon.
