MADISON, N.J. (February 12, 2012) – Johns Hopkins swept the field, going 6-0 at the Easter Women's Fencing Conference Dual Meet Championships this afternoon in the Simon Forum. The Blue Jays have now won three-straight EWFC titles. The Rangers posted a 1-5 record on the day and hosted their first EWFC Championships since the 2007-08 season.
The Drew women won their only bout of the day against Yeshiva, 15-12 to improve their overall record to 4-18 on the season. Among the teams on hand were Stevens Institute of Technology, Haverford, Hunter and the City College of New York. The Rangers were edged by Hunter and CCNY, 16-11 while coming up short to Stevens and Haverford 19-8. Against the champion Blue Jays, the Rangers suffered a 25-2 setback.
The most successful weapon of the day proved to be foil, where the Rangers captured two team victories. The top individual performance on the day came from junior Emilia Domanowski (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) who boasted a 12-6 record for the day. She is now 31-29 on the season, tops among all Drew fencers.
The Rangers will be back in action this weekend for the EWFC Individual Championship at Stevens this Sunday.
