MADISON, N.J. (March 24, 2012) – Goucher (9-1, 2-0 Landmark) scored the game's first five goals and never looked back an 18-8 victory over Drew (5-2, 1-1 Landmark) this afternoon in Ranger Stadium. After starting the season, 5-0, the Rangers have now lost two games in four days.
Five different players for the Gophers found the back of the net to start the game including Goucher freshman Pierce Ingram. The sophomore had a career day, scoring seven goals on seven shots. Senior
Nicholas Della Fera (Locust Valley, N.Y./Locust Valley) provided the Rangers with an initial spark on offense scoring the Rangers' first two goals of the contest.
The Rangers closed the gap to 9-5 at the half thanks to second quarter goals from
Scott Humphreys (Newark, Del./Sanford School),
Steve Gentile (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Indian Hills) and
Patrick Lamon (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset).
The Gophers stepped on the gas in the third period and blew the game open scoring six goals compared to just one by the Rangers, owning a 15-6 advantage after the first 45 minutes of play. The Rangers did not fare much better in the fourth, as Goucher tallied four more goals, finishing off a 9-1 run in the second half.
Nate Kotarra (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Harriton) and
Justin Kuchar (Oradell, N.J./River Dell) scored the last two goals of the contest for their first goals of the season.
The Rangers complete a three-game homestand on Tuesday night when they welcome in Montclair St. at 7:00 p.m.
