HAVERFORD, Pa. (November 20, 2013) – The Drew women's fencing team was defeated by Lafayette and Haverford this afternoon at the Haverford Invitational. Lafayette came away with a 16-10 victory while host Haverford defeated the Rangers, 23-4. The Rangers fall to 0-3 on the young season.
Sophomore saberist
Sarah Silvestri (Newfoundland, N.J./West Milford) went 5-1 in the two matches and in the process won her 50
th career dual meet bout. She has an overall record of 52-36 and is 8-1 on the season. She nearly helped the Rangers to a victory in the sabre against Lafayette, coming up just short, 5-4.
Freshman
Kelsey Oeler (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) is having an impressive start to her collegiate career with an overall record of 6-3. She was 4-2 on Saturday in the foil.
The Rangers will begin to prepare for NIWFA Winter Tournament which takes place on December 8
th at Rutgers.
