POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (February 2, 2012) – The Drew women's fencing team won two of their five matchups this weekend, prevailing over Queens College and Hunter College. The Rangers improve to 5-17 on the year.
The Rangers edged Queens College, 12-11 and topped Hunter College, 15-7. Both Yale and Sacred Heart defeated the Rangers 24-3 and hosts Vassar came away with a 21-6 win over Drew.
The Sabre proved to be the Drew strong point on the day as they went 2-3 as a team. Freshman
Sarah Silvestri (Newfoundland, N.J./West Milford) was a key to the sabre success, going 9-4 on the day.

Melissa Mascarenhas (Linden, N.J./Linden) was the other Ranger to post nine wins, also finishing with a 9-4 record.
The Rangers will compete in EWFC Championships this Sunday hosted by Johns Hopkins.
