Box Score TOWSON, Md. (March 23, 2013) – In a rematch of last year's Men's Lacrosse Landmark Conference Championship game, Goucher (3-6, 2-0 Landmark) topped Drew (1-4, 0-2 Landmark), 11-5 on Beldon field this afternoon. The Gophers have won six of the last seven matchups against Drew dating back to the 2008 season.
The Gophers unleashed 51 shots in the contest, including 18 in the first period. Goucher scored the first three goals of the game and never looked back. They received multiple-goal efforts from Pierce Ingram, Zachary Fratella, Mike Russo and Sam Morgan.
The Rangers struggled to get their offense going, scoring only two first half goals. The Rangers pulled with four, midway through the third period on a goal by
Eric Tripp (Glen Cove, N.Y./Glen Cove) but did not get any closer for the remainder of the contest.
Sophomore
Patrick Lamon (Severna Park, Md./Severn School) finished with a team-high two goals for the Rangers. Senior
Steve Gentile totaled three points, assisting on two scores and notched one of the two first half goals.
The Rangers took advantage of their man-up opportunities, converting two of the four Goucher penalties into goals. The Rangers committed seven penalties on the day resulting in a trio of Gopher scores.
Goucher goalkeeper Connor Mishaw made 13 saves in the contest to earn his third victory of the season. Senior
Andrew Goldberg (Randolph, N.J./Newark Academy) made a career-high 13 saves in a losing effort.
The Rangers will seek their first Landmark Conference win on Thursday when they take on Scranton in Rangers Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
