Box Score MADISON, N.J. (March 28, 2013) – For the first time since 2004, the University of Scranton defeated the Drew men's lacrosse team. After trailing early, the Royals emerged with a 10-7 victory tonight at Ranger Stadium. The loss moves the Rangers to 1-5 on the season and 0-3 in the Landmark Conference.
Prior to tonight's game, the Rangers won the previous nine matchups and including a 15-9 victory in last year's Landmark Conference semifinals.

Eric Tripp (Glen Cove, N.Y./Glen Cove) recorded a season-high four points for the Rangers scoring twice and assisting on two others. Junior
Mike Marone (Morristown, N.J./Delbarton) and
Steve Gentile (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Indian Hills) each had a pair of scores to pace the Drew attack.
Scranton was led by 2012 First Team All-Conference midfielder Dillon McInerney who topped all scorers with three goals. Gus Sturm also recorded a hat trick in the win while Taylor Nelson tallied three points on a two goals and an assist.
The Rangers carried the momentum in the first quarter, scoring the game's first two goals. The Royals cut the Drew lead in half with 12 seconds remaining in the first quarter with McInerney's first score of the night.
The second period belonged to the Royals and set the tone for the rest of the contest. Scranton scored the final three goals of the first half including the final one by John Gregitis with just six seconds remaining left.
Drew pulled within a goal three times in the third period as the two teams exchanged a total of six goals. The Royals were able to pull away in the final period with three-straight goals to start the fourth, opening a 10-6 lead, the largest of the game.
The two teams were virtually even in every statistical category, with the Royals holding a slight edge in shots and face-offs. Scranton held a 26-23 advantage in ground balls and forced 13 Drew turnovers on the night.
The Rangers will be back in action on Tuesday to take on in-state foe, Montclair St. at 7:00 p.m. on the road.
