Red Hawks Stifle Ranger Attack, Cruise to 8th Win

Box Score MONTCLAIR, N.J.(April 2, 2013) – The Montclair St. Red Hawks held the men's lacrosse team to just one goal in a 14-1 victory this evening on Sprague Field. The loss drops the Rangers to 1-6 on the season while Montclair improves to 8-3.

After scoring just two goals in the first period, the Red Hawks exploded for six goals in the second to open up a commanding, 8-0 lead at the half. Montclair scored the game's first 12 goals until the Rangers got on the scoreboard on a Steve Gentile (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Indian Hills) goal with 10:14 remaining in regulation.

The Red Hawks were led by Michael Jevic who scored six times and recorded an assist. He also scooped up four ground balls and caused a turnover. Michael Schreck and Sam Morrissey each had two goals and an assist to pace the Red Hawk attack.

Montclair unleashed an opponent-high 56 shots compared to just 19 by the Rangers. Drew committed a season-high 38 turnover and was just 21-of-31 in clear attempts.

Red Hawk goalkeeper, Michael Dorn made six saves to earn the victory.

The Rangers are winless in their last four matchups against the Red Hawks with their last victory coming in 2009.

Drew will continue Landmark Conference play this weekend when they travel to Catholic University. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in the nation's capital.
