Box Score MADISON, N.J. (April 24, 2013) – After losing five-straight games coming into today's contest, the Rensselaer men's lacrosse team emerged with a 11-4 victory over Drew University (3-10) this afternoon. The Engineers scored five, fourth quarter goals and improved to 6-8 on the season.

Sophomore Colin Forturner scored a game-high six goals in the contest and assisted on one other to lead the RPI attack. Mike Sarson scored back-to-back goals in the fourth period, finishing with two goals and his second assist of the season.

The Rangers, who were shutout in the first and third periods but received a pair of goals from sophomore Mark Barus (Jacobstown, N.J./Notre Dame) and two more from senior Steve Gentile (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Indian Hills).

The Engineers scored the only two goals of the first period, with both coming off the stick of Fortuner. The Rangers opened up the second period with two-straight goals to tie the score at two. The two teams exchanged the next two goals before RPI ripped off the next three of the half. Fortuner scored five of his six goals in the first half alone.

With the score 6-3 at the break, neither team scored in the third period. The Engineers turned it on in the final 15 minutes scoring five-straight goals. Going back to the second period, RPI was able to scored eight unanswered goals until Gentile scored with 20 seconds remaining the game.

Engineer goalkeeper, James Manchester made 14 saves and allowed only three goals in nearly 60 minutes of play. Junior Kyle Mariboe (Hightstown, N.J./Peddie School) split time in net for the Rangers and made three first half saves.

RPI owned a 40-35 advantage in shots and picked up 41 groundballs compared to 32 by the Rangers. Drew won the face-off battle, claiming 11of the 19 draws. Senior Alex Majd (Darien, Conn./Darien) went 7-for-9 in the face-off circle for the Rangers.

The Rangers will close out their 2013 campaign on Saturday when they host Washington & Jefferson at Ranger Stadium. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. with senior day ceremonies taking place just prior to the start.
