SELINSGROVE, Pa. (Nov. 22, 2014) – In addition to two individual event victories by freshman Jenny Stein in a 114-71 dual meet loss at Susquehanna University on Saturday, the versatile rookie joined classmate Monica Callaghan in making Drew University swimming & diving history by participating in the latter for the first time at a collegiate pool.
 
Stein and Callaghan took their first dives as members of the Rangers' diving contingent in an exhibition at the end of the Landmark Conference dual meet. Callaghan scored an 88.20, while Stein notched a 255.45 as the first Drew diving marks to go in head coach Eric Scheingoltz's book.
 
Stein impressively had enough energy to perform her dives after taking two events against the Crusaders. The flashy freshman won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:07.07, and followed that with a victory in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.36.
 
Sophomore Jordan Jessup picked up a first place finish for Drew in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:07.60, edging her Susquehanna for by just three-hundredths of a second.
 
The Drew men dropped a 111-74 decision to Susquehanna in their last dual meet of 2014, paced by second place finishes by junior Mike Smoliga in the 100-yard freestyle, freshman Sebastiano Pigazzi in the 50-yard freestyle and Niklas Andersen in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
 
The Drew men's and women's swimming and diving teams finish out the 2014 portion of the winter schedule with the three-day Ranger Invitational at the K.M. Kirby Pool on Dec. 5-7. The Rangers' next dual meet is scheduled for Jan. 10 against Ocean County College.
