Rangers Conclude Season in Landmark Semifinals

Box Score SELINSGROVE, Pa. (April 30, 2014) – The No. 4 Drew University's men's lacrosse team fell at top-seeded Susquehanna University, 9-4, this afternoon in the semifinal round of the Landmark Conference playoffs.

Senior Aaron Davis led the way for the Rangers offensively scoring two goals in his final game for the Blue and Green. Davis finished the season with a career-best 16 points on 13 goals and three assists. Sophomore Steven Cola added a goal and dished out an assist for Drew in the loss. Cola wrapped up his sophomore campaign with 11 goals and four assists.

The Crusaders took a 1-0 lead at the 9:17 mark of the first quarter J.A. Howland found Nick Citron found his first goal of the day. Citron finished the day scoring two goals and assisting another for Susquehanna. Drew countered just over a minute later on a man-up goal by senior Nate Kotarra off an assist from Cola. The Kotarra goal at 8:13 would be the only Ranger goal of the first half. Susquehanna scored the final three goals of the half, including one from Landmark Conference Player of the Year Austin Lein. The Crusaders led Drew 4-1 at the half.

Conor Boyland started the scoring in the second half with an unassisted goal at the 11:45 mark of the third quarter. Davis responded for the Rangers four minutes later cutting the Crusader lead to just three, 5-2 with 7:36 left in the quarter. Following a Susquehanna goal, the Rangers scored the final two goals of the third behind the sharpshooting of Davis and Cola, pulling them within two, 6-4 entering the fourth. Susquehanna scored the final three goals of the game and held the Rangers scoreless in the final period of play for a 9-4 victory.

Sophomore Kevin Cleary put forth his best effort of the season from the faceoff "x" for Drew in the loss. Cleary won 71 percent of the faceoffs in the game taking 12 of 17 throughout the contest. Cleary also collected four ground balls on the afternoon.

Senior Kyle Mariboe made his final start in between the pipes for the Rangers on the afternoon. Mariboe played all 60 minutes for Drew allowing nine goals and making 12 saves adding to his Landmark-leading total of 160. Kyle's 160 saves on the season rank him 13th on Drew's saves in a season list.
