MADISON, N.J. –
On Saturday afternoon, the Drew University men's and women's swimming & diving teams returned to action for the first time in six weeks by hosting Landmark Conference rival Scranton in a dual meet at Kirby Pool.  The Rangers collected a total of 12 event victories on the day, but were unable to come away with the overall win.  Scranton notched a 123-108 triumph on the men's side, while the Drew women fell to the Royals by a 159-76 count.

Leading the way for the men's squad was Michael Ma (Redwood City, Calif.), who took first in the 100 yard butterfly (53.48) and 200 yard individual medley (2:01.45).  He also joined with Matheus Macena (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Ryan Underwood (Etters, Pa.) and Jack Mahoney (Erie, Pa.) to win the 200 yard medley relay in 1:39.40.  Macena and Mahoney each posted an individual victory, as well.  Macena won the 100 yard backstroke in 55.29 seconds, while Mahoney secured first place in the 200 yard freestyle with a 1:49.53 clocking.

Mack Fox (Randolph, N.J.), meanwhile, swept the distance events.  He swam the 500 yard freestyle in 5:03.63 and posted a time of 10:25.38 in the 1000 yard freestyle.  In addition, Alexandre Sannibale (South Pasadena, Calif.) notched a pair of second-place finishes in the 100 yard freestyle (50.10) and 200 freestyle (1:49.99) and Angelo Angione (Hoboken, N.J.) grabbed second-place in both the 1-meter (161.25) and 3-meter (171.00) diving events.

Drew's women earned five victories, with Jenny Stein (Calabasas, Calif.) and Mal Vishwanath (Bangalore, India) each claiming two wins.  After tallying 243.38 points on the 1-meter board, Stein completed a sweep of the diving events with a score of 270.45 points in the 3-meter competition.  With that 3-meter score, her second NCAA "B" cut of the season, she officially qualified for the NCAA Regionals for the second straight year.

Vishwanath took first in both the 200 freestyle (1:57.68) and 100 yard butterfly (1:00.95).  In the 1000 freestyle, Audrey Keliehor (Wilton, Conn.) recorded a time of 11:49.89 to take first by nearly four seconds.  Stephanie Cushman (Brick, N.J.), meanwhile, notched a 1:01.57 clocking in the 100 backstroke, which was good for second place.

The Rangers conclude their home schedule next Saturday at 1 p.m. against Goucher.  Prior to the meet, seniors Stein, Fox, Crystal Caragine (Cape Girardeau, Mo.), Mitchell Fry (Canton, Conn.) and Alli Keith (Sanbornthon, N.H.) will be honored.
