MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The Drew University women's golf team swept the team and individual titles at its own Spring Brook Invitational at a sunny Spring Brook Country Club on Tuesday.
For the second day in a row, sophomore
Kayla Diaz captured medalist honors, carding an 8-over-par 80 to win by 10 strokes. She also won the Muhlenberg Invitational on Monday with a 77.
As a team, the Rangers shot a 353 to easily outdistance runner-up Scranton (392). Juniata placed third with a 436 while Stockton followed with a 463.
Diaz parred 10 holes on her way to posting the lowest score in the five-year history of the women's Spring Brook Invitational, besting the 83 shot by Drew's Marissa Broderick at the inaugural event in 2017. In addition, the Rangers posted the best team score in the history of the invitational, taking one stroke off the former mark set by Drew in 2017 and Scranton in the spring of 2021.
Sophomore
Nyah Sanders carded Drew's second-best round, finishing in a three-way tie for second in the field of 23 with a 90. Senior
Jenna Du Plooy was next for the Rangers, placing fifth with a career-low 91 - five strokes better than her previous best. Senior
Cassidy Conklin rounded out the team scoring with a 92 to place sixth.
Senior
Natalie Stilo was also in action and took ninth with a 99. In addition, freshman
Brooke Mercer placed 11th with a 102 while classmate
Arielle Detorres made her collegiate debut and was 22nd with a 129.
The Rangers close out the fall portion of their schedule on Saturday, when they compete at the Landmark Conference Fall Preview, held at Northwest Golf Course in Silver Spring, Md.
