NEW YORK – For the third time this season, senior forward
David Musial of the Drew University men's basketball team has been named to the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Division II/III Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced on Tuesday.
Musial averaged 15.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 3.0 steals per game while shooting 50.0% from the field (11-for-22) and 88.9% (8-for-9) at the foul line in a 1-1 week for the Rangers. He posted 20 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in a 98-93 loss at Elizabethtown College, then notched his fifth double-double of the season - and his third in his last four games - with 11 points and 12 rebounds to go with four steals and three assists in a 99-69 victory at Goucher College.
For the season, Musial leads the Rangers in numerous statistical categories, including rebounding (8.4 rpg), assists (3.0 apg), steals (2.5 spg), and blocks (0.6 bpg). He is also Drew's fourth-leading scorer, averaging 10.7 points per night. Among the Landmark Conference leaders, Musial ranks first in rebounding and second in steals.
The MBWA media panel selects one men's and one women's player of the week and an honor roll from nominations received for Division I schools, plus one men's and one women's player of the week and an honor roll from nominations received for Division II and III schools combined. The Division II/III designation encompasses players from 45 Met area schools.
The Rangers (16-5, 10-4 LC), tied for second place in the Landmark Conference standings, conclude a four-game road trip on Wednesday, when they visit Wilkes University at 7 p.m. in a Landmark tilt.
