Goucher scored the game's next seven points, but the Rangers responded with a 7-0 run of their own, to once again make the edge 11, with just 5:04 left. The Gophers would get as close as four twice thanks to buckets by Mico James and Troy Parker Jr. but the Rangers defense held strong over the final minute of play not allowing a single made basket on a total of three possessions.

Sophomore Steve Hydzik (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) put together another impressive performance coming off the bench. He fell two points short of his career-high, totaling 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Freshman Mike Klinger (Franklin Park, N.J./Rutgers Prep) added 11 points including a 3-for-6 effort from behind the three-point line.
