Box Score MADISON, N.J. (January 7, 2013) – The Drew men's basketball team defeated St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (8-4) this evening, 75-64 in the final non-conference tilt of the season. Junior
Luke Glass (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) led all scorers with 20 points as the Rangers improved to 6-7 on the season.
Four players reached double figures and the Rangers pulled down 52 rebounds, the third most ever in a game as a team. Glass hit three of his 10 attempts from beyond the arc and added four assists in his fourth 20-point effort of the year. The team's leading rebounder coming into the game,
John Ford (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North), fell two boards shy of a double-as he finished with 15 points.
The Bears were led the duo of Michael Megafu and David Louison who each recorded a double-double. Louison scored a team-high 18 points and grabbed game-high 13 rebounds. Megafu chipped in 21 points and 11 boards to pace St. Joseph-Brooklyn.
The Rangers never trailed in the contest and the Bears never came within less than eight points in the second half. After opening up the game on a 22-12 run, the Rangers took a 41-25 lead into the halftime break. Over the first 20 minutes the Rangers shot 43 percent from the field and buried five three-pointers, one less than St. Joseph's had all game.
On the glass, the Rangers nabbed 16 rebounds and scored 20 points on second chance opportunities. The Bears were dismal from the free throw line converting only six of a 21 attempts.
Freshman
Mike Klinger (Franklin Park, N.J./Rutgers Prep) collected a season-high eight rebounds to go along with 11 points. Sophomore
Chris Capelli (Manasquan, N.J./Manasquan) rounded out the Drew double-digit scorers, contributing 10 points off the bench.
The Rangers will continue Landmark Conference play Wednesday when they welcome Moravian to Baldwin Gym. The first ever mid-week matchup between the two schools since entering the Landmark in 2007, will tip a 7:00 p.m.
