Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y. (January 4, 2014) – The Drew University men's basketball team erased a nine-point deficit in the final 3:35 to come away with an 85-78 win over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (7-6) this evening. The Rangers win their second-straight game and improve to 6-5 on the season.
The Rangers outscored scored 19 of the last 20 points of the game. The Eagles only point over the final three minutes came on a free throw. Senior
John Ford (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) scored eight of his 17 points in the closing minutes including the game-tying three-pointer with two minutes remaining. For the game, Ford knocked down a season-high five treys while pulling down seven rebounds.
Sophomore
Mike Klinger (Franklin Park, N.J./Rutgers Prep) scored a season-best 30 points to lead the Rangers on offense. The second-year guard was 11-of-16 from the floor and was in double figures for the 20
th straight game. His all-around effort also yielded seven rebounds and five assists.
Classmate
Jason Huelbig (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) scored 14 points and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Junior
Chris Capelli (Manasquan, N.J./Manasquan) rounded out the double-digit scoring for the Rangers, scoring 10 points after not missing a shot from the floor.
David Louison of St. Joseph's also went for 30 points in a losing effort. Michael Megafu registered a double-double, with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The Rangers shot a season-high 57 percent from the floor and tied a season best with nine three-point field goals on the night.
Drew will wrap up its non-conference schedule on Tuesday night when they take on Bryn Athyn on the road at 7:00 p.m.
