Keckler Steps Down as Men's Basketball Coach, Accepts Position at Moravian

MADISON, N.J. - Darryl Keckler, the winningest coach in Drew University men's basketball history, has resigned to become the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Moravian University.

"I cannot put into words how much the last 14 years have meant to me," said Keckler. "It has been an incredible privilege to lead the Drew Men's Basketball program. To every player, past and present, that has put on a Drew uniform, as well as alumni, assistant coaches, and colleagues in the Athletics Department and across campus, thank you!"

Throughout his tenure, Keckler guided the Rangers to a team-record 167 wins, seven Landmark Conference playoff berths - including three appearances in the final - and the 2020-21 Landmark title. He was a two-time Landmark Conference Coach of the Year selection.

Just three years after arriving at the Forest, Keckler coached Drew to its first winning season and conference playoff berth in 14 years in 2010-11, earning his first Landmark Conference Coach of the Year award. He took the Blue and Green back to the conference championships in 2014-15.

Keckler's last five years at the Forest have marked one of the most successful eras in program history, with the Rangers going 85-36 while making five consecutive Landmark Conference playoff appearances, including a spot in the final in three of the last four seasons. Drew captured its first Landmark Conference title in team history in 2021 with a thrilling 84-78 overtime victory over Scranton.

In 2018-19, the Rangers posted their winningest season in team history, going 23-7 while winning four more games than any men's basketball team at Drew. The squad also finished first in the Landmark Conference standings for the first time in program history, and Keckler captured his second Landmark Coach of the Year honor. He also guided the 2019-20 squad to a 20-win season (21-7).

Keckler has helped the Rangers capture 23 All-Landmark Conference honors throughout his time at Drew and coached two-time Landmark Player of the Year Riley Collins C'20, who also finished his career as the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,949 points. In addition, he helped the Rangers win the Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year award three times and the Landmark Rookie of the Year award on three occasions.

In 2017, Keckler was named an Assistant Athletic Director at Drew, and he helped oversee Drew's leadership development program, Win the Ranger Way.

Ranger fans will continue to see Keckler at least once a year in Baldwin Gym, as Moravian competes with Drew in the Landmark Conference. The Greyhounds have enjoyed success in recent years, winning back-to-back Landmark titles in 2017-18 and 2018-19.\
