National recognition has long been a tradition for the Drew field hockey program. As one of field hockey's brightest stars, Beth Cacossa-Madsen helped the program tally a 38-14-1 record from 1981-83. Her 1983 squad was seeded third in the NCAA tournament and was the Mid- Atlantic Region Runner-Up.

A two-time Middle Atlantic Conference All-Star, Beth led the team in scoring for three consecutive seasons, and broke Drew's single-season school record with 18 goals her sophomore year. Her teammates bestowed upon her Most Valuable Player honors in 1982 and again in 1983. At the time of her induction, Beth's single season totals placed her sixth and seventh on Drew's top 10 list, while her 42 career goals ranked fourth on the all-time scoring list.

Beth earned a spot on the NJAIAW-II All-Star team and was the first field hockey player to merit Regional All-America honors. Her individual prowess was recognized at the international level with an invitation to the U.S. Olympic Trials in 1982.
