Joe Henrikson is the most decorated baseball player in Drew history. He is the only Ranger to ever earn a spot on the ABCA Regional All-America Team and the only Ranger to ever be named a conference Player of the Year. These honors came by way of his bat, which also earned him 12 school records that still stood at the time of his Hall of Fame induction.

No player in 86 years of Drew baseball had a higher career batting average (.392) or more hits (201), home runs (18) or RBIs (146). He also held career records in doubles, triples, total bases and slugging percentage. His 2006 season earned the aforementioned national recognition along with an NJCBA All-State Team, an ECAC All-Star Team and an All-Freedom Conference First Team.

Veteran Head Baseball Coach Vincent Masco undoubtedly appreciated Henrikson’s statistical contributions over his four years in The Forest. But it was his ability to inspire his teammates that remains his most valuable characteristic in his coach’s eyes. In 2004, the Rangers achieved the rare feat of having three players record 50 hits in a season, led by Henrikson’s 52. Masco recalls Henrikson pushing his teammates to keep the torrid pace, and Gary Read (52) and Kevin Dinkel (51) each reached the plateau by season’s end.
